Walk and Talk
Walk and Talk Therapy
Walk and Talk Therapy is a form of counselling that takes place outdoors, combining the benefits of movement with traditional talking therapy. Instead of sitting in a therapy room, or online, sessions are held whilst walking in nature, providing a relaxed and open environment for self-reflection and discussion.
Many people find it easier to express their thoughts and emotions while walking side by side, rather than sitting face-to-face. The natural setting can also help reduce stress and anxiety, making it an excellent alternative to traditional counselling.
Walking and Talking
Walk and Talk Therapy offers multiple benefits for both the mind and body:
- Boosts Mood: Walking releases endorphins, the body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.
- Enhances Mental Clarity: Movement can help process emotions and thoughts more easily, reducing feelings of being “stuck.”
- Physical Well-being: Walking improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, and supports overall health.
- Connection with Nature: Being outdoors promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and encourages mindfulness.
- Less Formal Setting: Walking side by side can feel more comfortable than traditional face-to-face therapy.
The Route
You can choose from three scenic routes for your Walk and Talk session:
- Brooklands Park, Worthing: A peaceful green space with lakeside views.
- Lancing Perch to Shoreham: A refreshing seaside walk along the beach.
- Splashpoint Leisure Centre to Grand Avenue, Worthing: A scenic route along the promenade.
